Lake Mburo National Park is a stunning national park nestled in Nyabushozi County, Kiruhura District, in the Western Region of Uganda — approximately 240 km west of Kampala and 30 km east of Mbarara. It is one of Uganda’s most accessible savanna parks, offering a unique blend of open grasslands, acacia woodlands, wetlands, and five scenic lakes. Gazetted as a national park in 1983, Lake Mburo is home to an impressive array of wildlife including zebras, hippos, impalas, warthogs, African buffaloes, common elands, and over 300 bird species. In 2015, Rothschild’s giraffes were successfully introduced to the park, adding to its rich biodiversity.
